  17. What is PCIE 3.0? New graphic cards of nvidia gtx series are supported or not supported by old motherboards? My motherboard is ASUS M2N68 AM-SE2 and processor is Phenom II X2.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It is a newer version of the interface, newer means faster and better.
To use the full power of the new interface, both mobo and GPU should support it.

But it will also run on PCIE 2 mobos at lower speed

  18. amd athlon II x2 2.8 ghz will support heavy games like crysis 3?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Games depend more on GPU that CPU, but CPU matters a little.
Crysis 3 will work if u use Athlon X2 with a good GPU

      Delete
    2. Karthik , that is completly wrong.

A good CPU is also needed along with a good GPU!
That CPU will bottleneck any of the good gpu's and no way it will be able to handle a game like crysis3.

  32. Hi Karthik,

Thank you for the very useful posts.

I am looking to build a desktop by myself just for the kick of it. Can you please share your thoughts on a couple of these?

Primary Usage : Multimedia PC, Analytical programs like SAS on medium sized data sets.

Would like a future proof configuration ( lets say the motherboard fails couple of years down the line.I would look to buy a compatible motherboard without rendering any of my components unusable. )
Full HD with 5.1/7.1 audio would be must have. Would this need a graphics card? NO GAMING needs at all.
Solid state drive for OS and heavy programs is desirable for the quick booting convenience.

Budget somewhere in the range of 40k - 70k including the following which I already own
    DELL S2240L - 9K
    Logitech MK270 Wireless Combo - 1.4k

    Please provide some inputs.

    Thanks,
    Pavan

  38. Dont go for this build.

KARTHIK Please dont misguide people into buying bad products. Also the pricing is way wrong.

fx 8120 = Is the AMD's old-gen cards with loads of issues.
Fx 8320 would be recommended but again 8320 should only be bought if one has plans on overclocking. There 8350 would be the best bet.
As you have not specified any sort of explanation as to why you have listed those parts, i conclude you yourself haven't done any research.

Please stop trying to make your blog more popular with such wrong information.

      "Fx 8320 would be recommended"
Again, did you see the post date? Also my suggestion depends on various factors, not just performance. I look at price-performance ratio, availability in India, price at the point of post, etc

"As you have not specified any sort of explanation as to why you have listed those parts, i conclude you yourself haven't done any research"
Why don't you start a blog and give correct information
